MRO Standards of Quality
-
Do not exploit the river. Limit the number of days on the river for MRO so that fishing along with catch and release practices have a minimum impact on the river.
-
Use barbless hooks and promote healthy catch and release practices. Never sacrifice a fish for a photo.
-
Practice good river courtesy to other anglers and when applicable, educate people on on etiquette in a positive and constructive manner.
-
Promote Conservation and Recycling to all guests of MRO. Never eave anything behind, especially monofilament line and leaders.
-
Inform all MRO guests on the history, ecology, and preservation of the river including the history of the lawsuit against EBMUD for the Penn Mine mismanagement and the positive results. It should be a part of the ongoing education how EBMUD Fish and Wildlife Biologists have become stewards of the river and watrshed.
-
Create a pact among guides to communicate about conditions, concerns, schedules, and especially which fly or pattern is working. Encourage others to adopt similar standards.
-
Invite all MRO guests to participate in the Annual Great Sierra River Cleanup event in late September. Community participation creates ownership and stewardship of the river.
-
Provide objective information about projects that could negatively impact the river.
-
Continue to maintain a relationship between EBMUD, MRO, Mokelumne River Hatchery Staff, and Departmebt of Fish and Wildlife.
-
Limit the number of people who have access to the Take-Out Property in order to reduce impact on the river.
